Roaring Celebration

Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, call it what you will, it’s carnival celebration time! Eureka Springs is the ideal destination spot for celebrating this season with over 11 different events ranging from balls to parades, umbrella decorating to a jazz brunch. The traditions of New Orleans are delivered each year with a Eureka Springs twist. This year the theme is Roaring 20’s, so open up your costume closet and pull out those flapper dresses.

Nestled in the heart of the Ozarks, the setting is as quirky as it’s inhabitants. It’s no secret that Eureka Springs is a unique, artist haven that draws people from around the world. Costumes are encouraged and too extravagant is simply not a thing. Ladies, bring your jewel tones, slip dresses, sequins, and feathers.  Gentlemen, comfortable dinner jackets in bold stripes with flashy neckties will help bring this 20’s party to life.

The beautiful thing about participating in Mardi Gras in Eureka Springs is just that…YOU get to participate! YOU get to attend The Black Light Ball with glow-in-the-dark decor and The Mayor’s Ball dressed in your finest Gatsby attire. YOU get to watch both the Night and Day parades. YOU get to be carried away by the music at The Crescent Hotel Jazz Brunch.

If you are looking to party like the locals, or even better, with the locals, this is a one-stop-shop of events. Photo opportunities with the Krewe of Krazo Royalty court are readily available throughout the celebratory month. Royalty is chosen from Eureka Springs’ residents dedicated to supporting the community.

Each event takes place in a different venue around town giving you a true flavor of Eureka Springs. A winding parade downtown. A food tasting in The Grand Central Hotel & Tavern. A sweeping coronation ball in The Crescent Hotel ballroom.

With so many events in the party queue, there is little excuse not to plan a trip around an event or two this month. Join the town in celebrating this festive season with events catering to a wide range of audiences. From family-friendly parades to elegant, adult only balls, there is something for everyone. Take advantage of the local lodging and ticket deals and come join the party!
