Announcing “SHRED Eureka Springs”: A Spring Food, Wine & Adventure Festival
(Eureka Springs, Arkansas) – Shred is not only a way to mountain bike but also an attitude of appreciating the good things in life. This spring, the 1905 Basin Park Hotel and its partners present “SHRED Eureka Springs”, a weeklong festival, March 27 thru April 4, in this exciting Arkansas Ozark village with SHRED being an acronym for SIP HIKE RIDE EAT DANCE.
It all gets underway Friday evening of weekend one with The Mighty Pines jamming at the Kickoff DANCE Party in Basin Spring Park located in the center of Eureka Springs Entertainment District. This party, benefitting the Buffalo River Partners, will feature the music of the Ozark Mountain Music Festival (OzMoMu) and will run from 6 o’clock until 8. Also happening that evening, just steps from the park, is the performance of noted Southern Rock singer/songwriter Charlie Daniels in The Aud, the historic municipal auditorium.
This first weekend continues on Saturday with a SIP: a welcoming wine tasting produced in concert with the Basin Park Hotel’s “Chef’s Table”. This event features an opportunity to enjoy up to 30 wines expertly selected by Central Distributors, and Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits. The award-winning wines of the Ozark area will be presented by Keels Creek Winery and Post Familie Winery. Each table will be staffed with an expert to share the wine. The music of Eureka Swings will accompany the event. SIP also offers a VIP option with a unique opportunity to enjoy an exclusive tasting from the Roenigk Wine Cellar Reserves.
That next day, Sunday SHRED activities move to the Crescent Hotel. The East Lawn will be the site for an EAT event: the Sunday Chef Showcase Brunch featuring al fresco seating in the manicured garden of this historic mountaintop spa resort. Five guest chefs will present a tasty brunch. Also included is a Bloody Mary bar featuring locally sourced Bloody Mary Mundi Sauce ensuring a zesty flavoring for this popular brunch beverage. Music of the Honey Collective will fill the air. The brunch will be available for $29.95 with discounts available for overnight guests.
SHRED activities through the week will involve hiking, biking and community. The mornings of Monday through Thursday get underway at the downtown Eureka Springs Coffee House with a Wake-up/Meet-up event scheduled daily at 9 a.m. During the day, each day has a community event that begins at 10 a.m. and guided by either CC Riders or Outdoor Adventures for Women. Each event is just a little bit different from the rest, but each is a whole lot exciting. Monday features a guided mountain biking RIDE at Lake Leatherwood City Park and an evening gathering at the Eureka Springs Brewery for a SIP of local craft beers. Tuesday at 10 a.m. attendees will meet up at the coffeehouse to HIKE to and around Black Bass Lake gathering afterwards to hatchet throw at the Crescent’s Frisco Sporting Club and meet up for tap takeover that night in the SkyBar Gourmet Pizza. Wednesday sees another RIDE event as attendees traverse over the variety of Great Passion Play mountain biking trails. Later, SIP takes the spotlight at the scheduled community meet up at Brews. Thursday is a big day for HIKE: an exploration to the Buffalo River National Park Region and Sweden Creek Falls, one of Arkansas’ tallest waterfalls. Later that day, attendees will enjoy some live music and a whisky SIP in Jack Rabbett’s Whisky Bar.
SHRED’s second weekend sees the RIDE ramp up. On Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. is the Center Street Bike Party. Guests can roam up and down Eureka Springs’ Entertainment District between Jack Rabbett’s and Chelsea’s Corner Bar. Center Street will be closed for Lone Star Action Sports who, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., will stage a jaw-dropping, free to the public, stunt performance featuring trick mountain bikers and extreme skateboarders. The street party continues with live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. will come from the Food Truck Festival at the corner of Center and East Mountain streets. The street party leaves time that evening for those wanting to attend the performance of Grammy Award-winning rock band America in The Aud. Saturday is SHRED’s RIDE pièce de résistance. Mountain bikers will enjoy free shuttles at Eureka Springs Mountain as you shred the downhill. The new Lake Leatherwood Downhill, designed by Rock Solid, has already gained national notoriety as a signature piece of the Oz Trails System.
Those who will be experiencing the “SHRED Eureka Springs” festival form a new community of friends: those who love the outdoors and all the activities of Eureka Springs region. As a welcome and as a thank you, festival attendees in this inaugural year are being offered a “Community of Friends” special lodging promotional rate. Both, the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa and the 1905 Basin Park Hotel are featuring a promotional rate of $55 per night any day Sunday through Thursday during festival week.
